بخش 14
Prose Version
Rostam confronts Esfandiar, expressing his displeasure at being slighted. He reminds the young prince of his legendary feats—defeating the White Div, Kamus, and the Khaqan of China—and asserts his role as the protector of Iran. Rostam warns Esfandiar against arrogance, stating that he seeks peace not out of fear, but to prevent Esfandiar's destruction. Esfandiar laughs off the accusation, claiming the heat and long journey caused the delay and that he intended to visit Rostam later. He invites Rostam to sit on his left, but the great hero refuses, offended by the inferior position. Rostam proudly declares his lineage and merit, demanding a seat befitting his station. Esfandiar then orders a golden throne to be placed for Rostam. Rostam sits, still fuming, holding a scented orange in his hand as a sign of his agitation.
